Location

Westwood Shopping Center - photoThe center was built in 1974 on 35 acres at the geographic center of Fayetteville's population and adjacent to the city's largest upper income residential area. Westwood is across the All American Freeway from Cross Creek Mall, a 1.2 million square feet enclosed super regional mall. The two distinctively different shopping centers, along with Cross Pointe Centre, Cross Creek Plaza and Market Fair Mall form the core of a 600 acre regional retail trade center, the largest and busiest in North Carolina with annual sales in excess of $200 million. Westwood Shopping Center is easily one of the most successful shopping centers in North Carolina and location has undoubtedly played an important part in that success.

Size and Sales

Westwood Shopping Center - photoWestwood is a beautifully designed traditional community type shopping center with 62 stores occupying 315,031 square feet. The center, with to-the-door parking and easy access, was originally intended to capture local trade from the surrounding high income areas and regional trade drawn to the area by the larger enclosed Cross Creek Mall. It has, over the years, evolved into much more. It is today a major local and regional destination shopping center with stores, shops and restaurants that offer a wide variety of goods, services and entertainment. It has Fayetteville's largest concentration of boutiques, gift shops and businesses that cater to upper income customers. Westwood's Carmike Cinema, with 12 auditoriums and 2,719 seats, is one of the largest theater complexes in southeastern North Carolina. Shopping center sales, excluding discount department store and theater sales, averaged a very respectable $239.87 per square feet of gross area in 2004.

Parking

Road Access

The center has frontage on three of the areas most important multi-lane thoroughfares: Morganton Road, McPherson Church Road and the All-American Freeway, which have a combined traffic count of 106,000 vehicles per day. The shopping center's superb accessibility is unequaled in the market area.
